About Us

''Designing Cultural Identity Through Fashion''

Where Sri Lankan Heritage Meets Modern Fashion,Reimagining Tradition Through Contemporary Designs to Inspire the Next Generation to Embrace Their Roots.

Where Heritage Takes Shape in Modern Fashion

Sannaaliyaa is a Sinhala word that refers to a tailor — a skilled craftsperson who transforms two-dimensional fabric into beautifully fitted garments that embrace the three-dimensional human form. At Sannaaliyaa Design Studio, we give this meaning a deeper purpose: transforming the fabric of our cultural heritage into fashion that connects generations.

Wherever we go in the world, our roots remain a part of who we are. Fashion is more than what we wear; it is a powerful expression of our identity, traditions, and cultural pride. Through thoughtfully reimagined traditional wear, contemporary fusion designs, and personalised tailoring, we help people celebrate their heritage with confidence, elegance, and pride.

At Sannaaliyaa, we don't simply create clothing — we shape cultural identity into a style you can proudly call your own.

Our Story

A Legacy of Craftsmanship, A Vision for the Future

Sannaaliyaa Design Studio was founded by Anupama Vithanage, a fashion entrepreneur with deep family roots in the textile and apparel industry. Her journey began with her family’s clothing business, Anu Tex, established in Nugegoda, Sri Lanka, in 1982 and proudly continued today by her mother, Kusum Vithanage.

Building on this heritage, Anupama gained extensive business experience through the family enterprise and over 14 years of corporate experience as a supply chain leader in Sri Lanka and India. In 2025, she brought her passion for fashion and cultural identity to Auckland, starting Sannaaliyaa on a small scale and gradually growing it into a home-based boutique and online business.

Her vision is to build a distinctive brand that reimagines Sri Lankan heritage through contemporary fashion, inspiring every generation to wear their cultural identity with elegance, confidence, and pride.
